Well today is October 7th. Eight months ago baby Katelyn was born. Last week she started crawling and there is no stopping her now. Her two front teeth have been out since she was 6 months. She has been trying to speak to us by saying "da da da da" and "ma ma ma ma" but lately she' been saying "pa pa pa pa" also.

My next purchase will be one of those seats that go on the handle bars on the bikes. I've seen people riding their kids on them. I will also have to get her a helmet. I can't wait to start riding my bike with her!

It's been a while

It's been a while since I have updated this. Katelyn was born on 2/7/2009 weighing in at 6.12 lbs. in Upland, CA. She was born with lots of hair! She's been my morning sunshine. Every morning when I wake up I get to see her smiling face (after a dirty diaper and a bottle of course haha). She loves to laugh every morning and I really enjoy her laughs. Her favorite thing is to be picked up in the air as she was flying. I am so thankful to our Heavenly Father for sending me such a wonderful little creature. I am grateful to have been trusted with her special soul. I will do my best to be the best dad and teach her to chose wisely. I have a strong feeling that she is going to bring happiness to many people through her personality.

We have finished Baby Katelyns room. We are anxious to be able to bring her home to her new room full of love and joy. We are so fortunate to have great parents on both sides who have helped us create this dream room for our baby!

Yesterday we had the great opportunity to see Katelyn through a 3D ultrasound. She was sleeping most of the time so it made it hard to capture a picture of her. She was snuggled up next to the placenta and facing away from us. We did get a couple good pictures. Art, my mom, and sisters Krystal and Roz were there to share the wonderful moment with me. In the picture : Katelyn's eye is the first thing you can see, then her nose and mouth. Her hand is on the right side of her face. She is already head down and ready to come out. My mom says she looks just like me when I was a baby. :) I cant wait till she comes!

Theres are 3 pictures posted above. The first is her and her heart beat sound waves. It was amazing. The second is her with her head facing towards us. It looks crazy because its 2D. In the 3D picture (colored) : Its a profile picture. Katelyn's eye is the first thing you can see, then her nose and mouth. Her hand is on the right side of her face by her cheek and mouth. How cute!

8 Weeks to go!

I can't believe that I have been pregnant for 32 weeks (8 months) already! It is amazing how fast (but slow at other times) the time has gone by. In a short time Art and I will be welcoming our baby girl Katelyn into the world. I often wonder what she is going to look like or when she can talk, what is her personality going to be like. I hope she takes after Art alot because he has the best qualities in a person. We are so happy to be able to have a daughter comming so soon!

Amber, her sister Krystal and her husband Danny signed up for this marathon a while back...back before Krystal and Amber found out they were pregnant. So Amber and Krystal opted for the half marathon instead. I am still impressed that they ran 13 miles while 6 months pregnant. The cool thing was that it was in San Francisco so we managed to make it a small vacation too.

So few are the friends that keep in touch with after you get married. Two of the ones that keep in touch are Daniel and Vanessa Durham. About a month ago we went out to have pizza. Here is a pic of us at a YSA dance; back when we were all single. Yeah; back when Dan and I used to try to look good haha just kidding!

I do wish to keep in touch with everyone I knew before I was married. So holla!

Law School

On May of 2008 I finished Law School, which means that I am done with school...forever! However, Amber is still in school. She was studying the other day. I didn't know she was studying, so I started singing a song in an annoying tone and she exploded in her sweet and kind manner "please keep it down baby, I am studying."

Then it hit me. I don't have to that anymore. No more homework for me, no more professors, no more school administration and admission offices to deal with...I am done!!!!! No more waking up at 6:00am to study, work, then get home from school at 10:30pm. Well, I still have to work; but now I have "free time."

Anyway, here is a pic of me and my Mock Trial team. Yeah yeah, we look like a bunch of nerds; once we get our Bar card we'll be a pretty powerful group of young attorneys so watch out! Bar Exam results come November 21st.

So, a couple of girlfriends go to the store to find a man to marry.

It was the year I saw Kirk Gibson hit a homerun on the bottom of the 9th to win game 1 of the World Series

It was also the last time the Dodgers won the World Series

My 1st letter to baby Katelyn (10/4/08)

Dear Katelyn

How are you doing baby? At this moment you are probably driving mom crazy inside her by kicking her every 10 minutes. That's fine with me. It shows that you are going to be an active little girl :)

It's the first week of October. So let me tell you what I am currently doing to prepare for your arrival. I am reading (per your mother's request) a book called "The Expectant Father" by Armin A. Brott and Jennifer Ash. I did learn a few things; but some of the advice this book gives is too femine. Plus, I think the authro is gay. What does gay mean you might ask? Well, when you meet my friend Jake you'll know.

Your grandmother Fletcher is super duper excited. She's been buying clothes for you left and right. Last week she brought us a bunch of baby stuff that I had no idea you would need. Stuff that I hope you'll like.

Also, mommy has a sister named Kristal. She is your aunt and she is also pregnant. She thinks she is having a boy. Looks like you'll have a boy cousin that's a month or two younger than you. Be nice to him.

Mommy is also excited for your arrival; but she is getting really scared. However, she is doing everything possible to make sure you come out healthy. She is taking her vitamins, working out, eating healthy and also she's been somehow convincing your daddy (me) to buy stuff for you every time we walk into a store. You better appreciate all the she has to go through for you! She still working hard to help daddy pay the bills and getting straight A's in school to have a better paying job. Mommy and her sister are also running a half marathon in 2 weeks! Crazy huh?

Daddy is done with school! I am going to be an Attorney....Wooo hoo! I graduated from Law School in May 2008. I took the California Bar Exam in July and next month in November 21st I'll find out if I passed the Bar or not. I pray everyday that I did pass it because if I didn't I would have to take it again in February, that's when you are supposed to be born and I wouldn't want to be taking an exam during your arrival. I wouldn't miss it for the world, even there is a really important soccer game.

We live in an apartment right now; but it has plenty of room for you. Mommy is making sure I don't leave my stuff in your room. We also have a toy pooddle named Jock who will probably want to lick you all the time. Just push him off of you or throw his ball around, he'll be fine. My friend Morgan also helped me convince myself into buying a Nikon D90 SLR camera to take better pictures of you. She said she wishes she would have bought one before her first child was born.

I hope you are enjoying yourself kicking mommy. Enjoy it while you can because as the weeks go by you'll continue to get bigger and you'll not have as much room to move around.

I hope you like the name we picked for you. I can't wait for your arrival into our family.

So my wife likes to rip the cover off my GQ magazines ever since they started putting half naked girls on the cover. I am okay with that.

This October 2008 issue has 33 pages on How to Dress, Date, Act (and E-mail) Like a 21st Century Gentleman. You may be thinking "What's Art doing reading this magazine article, he is married!" Well, just because I am married doesn't mean I can just let my self go and not care about my appearance or stop dating my wife. I am always trying to be a better man. I mean, come on, my name is Art! Granted, my wife would probably have something to say about this like "Yeah; but you don't work out!" Umm I like work out like 4 times a week okay!

No matter how perfect us guys think we are or try to be, women always have something to criticize us about. It's in their nature. I guess that's how Heavenly Father created them. We need our wives to help us become a better man. Without their criticism we would never become perfect.

Anyway, back to GQ. So after browsing through the first 54 pages of nothing but ads for overprized items I finally get to the index where I can find out what page this article begins. However, something else sparked my interest, page 190 "Train your brain" learn how to your wandering, distracted, spaced-out mind under control.

Man I wish they would have published this article when I was still in school :(

Baby Burga is 21 weeks old!!!!

So Amber came to my office to take me to lunch today (kinda, since I paid for it) and I can't believe that she's been pregnant for 21 weeks already. Time definitely flies! During our last ultrasound the radiologist could not find anything between the baby's legs, so we are having a girl!

Every day I get more excited to be have a girl. We picked a name and we are going with Jake...haha jk. We picked Katelyn; but we are still working on the middle name, although Katelyn Isabel Burga is on top of the list right now. Any ideas?

Amber also mentioned that we have to start shopping for her bedroom stuff. I am like aaaahhhh! So that money that I was saving for 2008-2009 Lakers season tickets and the new fabulous Nikon D90 camera is now going to buy baby stuff :(

This is going to be my first baby girl (that I know of haha jk) so I need to start making a list of things to buy. Here is some things that I came up with that every father needs to purchase for their baby girl. If you think I am missing something (which I probably did) please feel free to add to the list!

Mystery Shoppers Inc. (SCAM!)

On Saturday I received a letter Mystery Shoppers Inc. from New York. I thought it was just some junk mail; but in reality it was one of the sleaziest scams that I've ever heard of. So sleazy that I almost fell for it. When I told Amber about it she was like "It's a scam, they just want your bank information don't do it!" But having gone to law school I had to figure out how this scam would work.

So like George Lopez would say, BASICLI, this letter included a cashier's check from Chase Bank in the amount of $3760.00 remitted to me. First, I was to use $100.00 of it at either K-Mart, Home Depot, Gap, JC Penney, Wal-Mart, Sears or Lowes. I hate these stores anyway! I would get to keep the items that I purchase and I would have to fax them receipts and a survey about my shopping experience one of these stores. Second, I would have to wire $3,200.00 to one of my "training agents" and pay $160.00 for the fee. That would leave me with $300.00 in my pocket.

So I went to the bank accross the street from my office. I had the teller check to see if the cashier's check was real. She told me "Well, according to my training, as far as I know it is real, would you like to deposit it?" Since I don't have an account with them she referred me to a desk to open an account. I immediately explained to the banker about the Mystery Shopper's thing and that I wanted them to check the cashier's check for me since no one in their mind would send that kind of money just to anyone. She said it looked real; but if it wasn't it could be returned. She then took the check to do more tests on it and after 5 minutes she said it was fake.

I said thank you very much. What should I do? She said to report it to the police and that they already made their own report. That I'll do; but I also wanted to warn anyone that gets this Mystery Shopper's letter. Don't deposit that check into your account!!!!! The check will eventually bounce in a week, so whatever money you've wired to your "training agent" would be coming from your own pocket. If I would have done this I would have lost $3360.00!!!

So yeah guys, LISTEN TO YOUR WIFE! (I hope to get a treat for this) haha jk.

I can't believe people out there trying to steal money from people specially during this financial crisis we are going through.

I thought only nerdy people had allergies haha jk. It's so freekin annoying. I've been sneezing and my eyes have been itching for like a week. All I can do is use eye drops and keep my nose clean. Amber sometimes catches me scratching them, hence the redness. I think it's time I go see the doctor.

Jock visits the dog park

We took our puppy Jock to the Dog Park for the first time today. When we got there, he was barking at the other dogs untill he got into the middle of all of them. The other dogs came up to him and were friendly so Jock adjusted. Until a Great Dane was sniffing him, Jock jumped up and got really scared. All the big dogs intimidated him! He kept running away... It was funny, we enjoyed it.

The California Bar Exam

I gave it my best. Results will be available to me in November 21 and November 24 for the general public on www.calbar.gov

I went into the exam confident and ready for it. Although at times certain questions kind of threw me off I was able to maintain calm. I took the recommended breaks, I made sure I organized my essays in a lawyer like manner, and I made sure not to try to discuss the questions with others during our lunch breaks.

After taking this exam I can testify that it is doable. However, it is not something that I want to do over again. I was sore on the second day. I had to often rub my lower back and on the third day my neck was sore. Sitting on a chair for 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the afternoon for 3 days in a row is a PAIN!

I really hope I don't have to go through this again. Even though my wife made it easier for me by driving me there every day and having lunch for me, quizzing me, and making life a lot easier for me, it is still something that I do not want to go through again. In fact I do not wish this on anyone of my friends!

I hope that I am not persuading anyone from going to law school and taking the bar exam. I just want you to know that all this work is worth it.

There is no way that I could have done this test alone. I prayed a lot and I was able to remember a lot of stuff during my essays that I did not think of while doing my outlines.

Anyway, no more talking about the Bar until November 21. It's time to enjoy not having to study for anything!

My wife and I love to tease our dog. We often rewind the tv whenever a doorbell rings in a tv show or commercial. He goes bananas thinking that somebody is at our door!

This time we were watching True TV most daring videos and a bull comes raging into a bull fighting rink. As soon as Jock catches eye of the bull he attacks the TV thinking that he will win this fight. Watch video for your entertainment purposes.

"Why are all these dresses so tight!" I exclaimed when all the size 4 dresses didn't fit. I was on my adventure to find the perfect dress for Art's formal graduation party for his Law School in MAY! I had no idea what was about the become the best thing to happen to me yet! Our baby was already growing for a month and I hadn't noticed much if a difference other than feeling I needed an extra boost of motivation to make it to the gym for my daily workout. We are 70 days and growing, 1/4 of the way done with 2 weeks shy of the 2nd trimester. We are very excited. Art has a new quote this year which follows," After the bar,anything you want, just let me study!" He is stretched so thin these days with work, studying for the bar, and now a baby... wait let's not forget, hes married to me (and now a pregnant me), poor baby! We aren't in agreement with what sex it is going to be. I want a girl of course, and he wants a boy. We are talking bets. We will find out soon enough that "I am always right!" and you can quote me on that because that is one of my quotes since we started dating when Art and I are debating on something.

Bar prep fever

Okay, so this morning, while driving to my Bar prep course , I turned on the radio to a classical music station. They were playing what it sounded like the soundtrack from the Bugs Bunny cartoons. So I started laughing alone. Yeah picture that...while imagining Bugs Bunny cartoons. I love Bugs Bunny cartoons.

Well I guess I was on autopilot because from the time I got on the freeway to the time I exited the freeway I don't remember driving at all. However I got right back on the freeway again. Yes, belive it! I took my exit and somehow I ended up getting back on the freeway again...dang it! So I took the next exit and got back on the freeway to get to my exit. I finally get to my exit and the Bugs Bunny cartoons came back in my head.

By the time I was back to planet earth, I was a block past the street I was supposed to turn on to get to class. Yeah, I arrived late to my class; but I am just great full that I didn't die today!

I explained this to one of my class mates in order to get the notes for the first 5 minutes that I missed and I was told "You've got Bar Prep fever"

When the court opens at 830am and you arrive just a little bit after that it is almost impossible to find parking. It can be a little stressful. However there is always people who seem to enjoy making it more stressful for everyone. Just like this old lady who as soon as I saw that she was getting in her car I stopped to wait for her so that I can take her spot. What the crap took her so long??? Its like she was making me wait on purpose.

So Amber and were called to the Primary to teach 10 and 11 year old boys. These boys are wild! However we managed to control them. It is fun getting to know them. They seem to enjoy the same things I enjoy, no I am not immature okay!!! haha.

I love teaching though, specially after walking in the classroom and seeing one of the kids jumping on the chair and the other one hiding behind a pile of chair.

This puppy is probably the smartest dog I've ever had. His name is Jock, he is 5 months old and weighing in at 5.2 lbs.

He is so funny! I enjoy him so much that I don't mind walking him even though people might think I am gay for owning a poodle hahaha.

On April 26, 2008, my little brother, Marcos and I went to the Home Depot Center and joined Carlos and Jose to watch and cheer like crazy for our Los Angeles Galaxy.

I saw David Beckham kick a freekick that ALMOST went in. It had an amazing curve. This was one of the craziest game I have ever seen live. Anyway, I had a blast and after that we went to the clubhouse and met some of the players and some of the old player that are legends in U.S. Soccer.
